Lighting Principles is primarily our class where the properties and techniques of studio lighting are explored. Students will be given specific and detailed projects to complete with an emphasis on solving complex lighting strategies. Critique and discussion are a large part of this class along with a teamwork concept on some projects. Topics will include the Inverse Square Law of Light and how to use it, maximizing light to show texture and volume, lighting for four color advertising production, mood/effect lighting and executing lighting comps to facilitate lighting in the studio. A portfolio of commercial photographic stylized images will be required. Students should have a good working knowledge of most photographic processes and workflows to take this class.
