The vastness of this area is sometimes hard to imagine. From high on the mountians another small village is nestled beneath the peaks and the harbor below which is its lifeline. Until the 1950's the main method of transportation for these villages like this was by boat or ferry. Ferries still play a very important role in Norways economy.
